Cr17 Corridor

Elkhart County has been actively developing the County Road 17 (CR 17) corridor for more
than ten years, with the concept having originated more than twenty years ago. The goal
is to construct a direct north/south link for traffic, providing a straight route to the I-80/90
Toll Road and the industrial areas, avoiding the urban areas on SR 19 and SR 15. To
accomplish this goal, Elkhart County has divided the project into 4 phases. Phase 1 (CR18
to CR28) was completed 2005. Phase 2 (CR 28 to CR 38) has been split into 3 individual
phases (Phase 2A, 2B and 2C) due to funding. Phase 2B construction was completed in
2010. Phase 2A construction began inthe fall of 2010 and will be complete by the end of
2011. Phase 2C was bid in the spring of 2011 and will be complete in the fall of 2012.
Future development south of CR38 will be dependent upon available funding.
